Description:
This class will provide a general overview of soil basics for septic systems by examining the soil profile and determining the soil color, texture and consistency. Attendees will learn how soil color and structure determine the depth to the limiting layer and to comply with Iowa Code Chapter 69. Participants will learn how to describe the soil profile and fill out the soil description form to be used in determining system design. This class is the foundation to onsite wastewater and is essential to understanding system design and sizing according to Chapter 69 as well as complying with site evaluation requirements. For Sanitarians, Boards of Health, Boards of Supervisors, Iowa DNR Only. Location: Draintech Plumbing, 2825 Wakefield Circle, Ames, IA. This class will involve a hands-on soil evaluation. Be prepared and dress accordingly to be outside. Instructor: Amber Anderson, Iowa State University This is a pre-requisite class for anyone taking the Percolation Test class.

 

 

This section is for SANITARIANS, PUBLIC HEALTH, BOARDS OF HEALTH, BOARDS OF SUPERVISOR, & IOWA DNR ONLY. If you register under this section and do not fit one of these roles, you will be dropped from the course.
