This course introduces students to the basic knowledge and skills to be able to complete scuba certification. It consists of two main phases: Knowledge development (independent online study with in-person discussions) that include safety procedures, pressure changes and the human body, and basic skills overview. Confined water dives (indoor heated pool) where students will be taught and practice basic scuba and snorkel skills. After successful completion of this course students will be ready to take the third step towards a lifelong scuba certification by completing 5 open water dives at a location of their own choosing. No class April 20. Students are required to provide their own mask, snorkel, fins and boots. Physical requirements - Students must be able to complete 200 yards of uninterrupted swim any stroke with no time limit and be able to swim 45 yards under water. General health requirements - No invasive medical procedures at least six months prior. Students will be required to pay $100 to the instructor for the textbook and Scuba certification costs. | |
