Description:
ISU and DMACC collaborated based on input from IT Partners to offer customized, introductory 1/2 day Cybersecurity training sessions. This course is an introductory level hands on lab for learning the basics of firewalls. It assumes no background understanding on the part of the student. Students will learn a high level view of important networking concepts, the role and significance of a firewall as a security measure, and how to configure and maintain a firewall. Lab exercises will include such activities as port scanning, rule creation and log monitoring. In addition, students will be introduced to Virtual Private Networks; including their use cases and how to configure specifically OpenVPN.
