Description:
This course introduces students to the basic knowledge and skills to be able to complete scuba certification. It consists of two main phases: Knowledge development (independent online study with in-person discussions) that include safety procedures, pressure changes and the human body, and basic skills overview. Confined water dives (indoor heated pool) where students will be taught and practice basic scuba and snorkel skills. After successful completion of this course students will be ready to take the third step towards a lifelong scuba certification by completing 5 open water dives at a location of their own choosing. Students are required to provide their own mask, snorkel, fins and boots. Class meets on Sundays at the Ankeny Campus Trail Point Pool: August 15, August 22, August 29, September 5 and September 12.
