Description:
Participants will create their own Pi-hole Internet advertisements filter through a hands-on lab style workshop. Participants will learn how to create a Raspbian image with SSH enabled, remotely connect into the Pi Zero, and how to update and secure Raspbian from the command line. It is good to have some familiarity with Linux, but not necessary. Participants will learn how to install, use, and configure the popular ad-blocking DNS Pi-Hole server for a home network. Space is limited and open to the first 40 registrants! Act fast! This is the Leap Year; once in four years workshop you don't want to miss!

Participants can purchase their kit at cost which ($35) includes: 

  • Raspberry Pi Zero 
  • Power adapter 
  • 16GB microSD card 
  • 36 inch Ethernet cable

Requirements:

  • Laptop with a USB (2 or 3) type-A connector for writing the Raspbian image to the microSD card
  • Physical ethernet port (which can be provided by a dongle)
  • Installed SSH client on the laptop
  • Latest version of Windows 10 (comes with SSH from command-line)
