| Description: | |
| The Middle East has always been a critical part of what we call Western history from the beginning of historic times. What is the draw of this region? Is it: religion (the place where the three great religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam emerged), climate (90% desert), wealth (oil), tourism (the wonder of ancient remains of past civilizations, pilgrimage)? A centric location between Asia, Europe and Africa, that so much of our own American culture is connected to this area. These are just some of the things we will explore in this class. | |
