Description:
This course will provide educators, counselors and administrators first-hand knowledge of the regional job market, in order to better understand future career opportunities for today's students. The course will be entirely on-line with a mixture of live classes and asynchronous session materials, which will include virtual business tours, panel discussions and time to collaborate with other participants. This experience will allow you to network with local business professionals, learn about hot jobs in the area and what companies are looking for in applicants, as well as connect you to STEM area occupations and concepts. Educators will gain ideas for how to integrate learning into current lesson plans as well as opportunities for expanding STEM career-based learning. The course will be completed between June 3 through July 1, 2021. Required live sessions will run from 1:00-3:00pm on the following dates: June 7, 14, 21, 28 and July 1. Upon completion, educators will receive 2 license renewal credits though Heartland AEA, if desired. The course will be delivered using Blackboard, so computer access is required.
