Pharmacy technicians are vital to the success of a well-functioning pharmacy. This comprehensive course will help you obtain the skills and knowledge needed to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) and The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT). You will also discover qualities employers are seeking in technician candidates. Topics include medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions, defining drugs by generic and brand names, dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, billing and reimbursement, resume tips, and key customer service skills. This is a web-blended course. Class will be held one day a week on campus and the rest of the work (6-9 hours/week) will be done online through the Blackboard virtual learning environment. After enrolling you will receive your DMACC username and password in two separarate mailings and emails. No class on October 4. | |
