| This web blended hybrid course prepares the LPN to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of intravenous therapy in a licensed hospital, licensed skilled nursing facility, and a certified end-stage renal dialysis unit. Major emphasis is placed on the specialized skills needed to provide IV therapy for clients age 12 or older and weighing 80 pounds or more. The textbook is also included in the course fee. PREREQUISITE(S): Prior to the Start of the Course. To be eligible to enroll in the course, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) shall: • Hold a current unrestricted Iowa license to practice as a licensed practical nurse, • Documentation of 1040 hours of practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.(LPN) • The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) must be practicing in a licensed hospital, a nursing facility or a certified end-stage renal dialysis unit whose policies allow the LPN to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of intravenous therapy. • Completion of Required Pre-Course Documentation To be eligible to enroll in the course, the Registered Nurse (RN) shall: • Hold a current unrestricted Iowa license to practice as a Registered Nurse. (RN) This is a Web-Blended Hybrid course with primary work completed online with two required in-person lab/skills simulation sessions. The required labs will be held on April 30, 2026, from 08:30-3:30pm and May 7, 2026, from 08:30-12:30pm, on the DMACC Ankeny Campus, Rm 201/203. Online Work and both lab days must be completed successfully in order to complete the clinical requirement in the facility you work in. |
