Description:
This course is an open shop class for advanced woodworkers. Knowledge of safe use of the following tools is expected: table saw, jointer, bandsaw, drill press, and electric miter box saw. Safety tests will be administered. Tools available in the shop are: 48? wide belt sander, 25? thickness planer, 16? planer, 3 SawStop table saws, 3 electric miter boxes, drill press, mortise machine, 4 jointer 6? to 12?, bandsaw, shaper, router table, RBI door panel machine, Powermatic wood lathe and lots of power hand tools. Students are responsible for supplying all project materials. All project materials are carried in at the beginning of each class and must be removed at the end of class. There are carts and an elevator available to do this. Safety googles and other personal protective equipment are provided. Course is held at Des Moines Public Schools Central Campus, 1800 Grand Ave., Des Moines in Room 5906 (Fifth Floor). Meet behind Central Campus at the dock near the play equipment prior to 7:00.
