This course explores the land (its water starved but spectacular terrain of deserts, grasslands, mesas, mountains and canyons) and the many peoples and cultures (native Americans, Spanish, Mexican, and American) who transformed ?this Land of Enchantment? into one of the most important regions in the United States. It also explores the many challenges that past and present water deficiencies have presented to this area since the beginning of human settlement long before present day urbanization, population growth and modern agriculture. Hundreds of digital slides through power point presentations will tell the making of the Great American Southwest.
